Hiking routes on the Hochzeiger

Ascend on the Hochzeiger gondola and chairlift (sections I + II) to the Sechzeiger mountain station.

Easy hikes from the Sechzeiger mountain station:

ROUTE 1:  to the Sechzeiger at 2395m, back to the lake, awesome panorama (10 min), countryside lake (water surface area 7830m²).

ROUTE 2: to the Sechzeiger at 2395m, back to the country lake, descend to the Klabalm and from there, either to the Jerzner Alm or straight to the gondola station.

Intermediate hikes from the Sechzeiger mountain station:

ROUTE 1: to the Sechzeiger, descend in a northerly direction to the Leiner Alm and from there, back to the valley station (2hrs 30mins).

ROUTE 2: Sechzeiger, descend through the Oberlang valley to the Kalbalm and from there, either carry on to the Jerzer Alm or straight to the gondola mountain station (1hr 45min).

ROUTE 3:  Walk along the ridge to the Hochzeiger at 2560m – descend via the Hochzeigergrat (route 11) to the Zollberg drag lift mountain station and further to the gondola mountain station (2hrs 30mins).

Long mountain hikes from the Sechzeiger mountain station:

ROUTE 1: Walk south along the ridge for approx 900m, descend into the valley on the back side of the Wenner Mountain, go out of the valley towards the Kalben hut. Climb up via the Trög Hut to the Leiner Alm from there back to the valley station (approx. 5 hours).

ROUTE 2: to the Hochzeiger, then into the upper Riege Valley to the Groaß lake and to the Wildgrat ridge, return to the gondola top station (approx. 6hrs 45mins).

Ascend with the gondola (section I) to the Hochzeiger mountain station mid-station

Easy hikes from the gondola station:

ROUTE 1: to the Zollberg at 2225m, stunning view of the inner Pitztal and to the Wildpitze (40mins).

ROUTE 2: to the Kalbalm, back to the Jerzner Alm (1hr 15mins)

Intermediate hikes from the gondola station:

ROUTE 1: to the Kalbalm – 30mins, further through the Oberlang valley up to the route which runs down from the Sechzeiger and further to the Leiner Alm – valley station (3hrs 15mins).

Long mountain hikes from the gondola station:

ROUTE 1: to the Hockzeiger – the Riege Valley to the Groaß lake and back via the Zollberg drag lift station – Zollberg – further to the valley station (5hrs).

ROUTE 2: to the Wildgrat ridge at 2971m: to the Zollberg drag lift station – carry on to the Groaß lake – to the Wildgrat ridge– the same route back (6hrs 30mins).
